We applied to YC but struggled to understand what exactly they were looking for. We spoke to a bunch of founders who had recently gotten into YC or recently gone through the program. They had a lot of the same issues while applying. We wanted to make it simpler for the next batch of applicants so we created a single resource to find everything you need to write a high quality application.
This is not an unofficial guide to applying toYC and I am not a YC alumni. This is a place where you can find resources from different founders who are YC alumni. We are simply organizing the wealth of information that has been created over the years by founders. We want this to be the resource founders use as they start their application.
We would love your feedback and thoughts on what content to add and what to do to make applying to YC or any other accelerator easier for founders.
I am the co-founder and CEO of a startup called Looq (www.shoplooq.com). We took way too much time to understand what YC was looking for as we applied. We got an interview but didn’t get in. Most of what I have written here is information from other founders. I love working with YC companies and using their products. The YC founders who I have met are amazing people and extremely intelligent. It is one of the strongest startup communities I have seen and a lot of their resources have helped me while working on my startup.
